Amy Baxter is a Senior UX Manager at Google on the UX Community and Culture team. Her group looks after the almost 6,000 person Google UX Community, providing avenues for education, career growth and moments of belonging. Prior to Google, she spent almost 10 years at Amazon, working in the retail space (Cart & Checkout, Identity, Homepage, Navigation), writing the design system for Amazon Search, and running Amazon User Interface (AUI), the design system that Amazon.com is built on. Most recently, she spent 3 years working on Amazon Scout, the autonomous driving robot delivery vehicle. In a tech world of transplants, she is a rare Washington native growing up in the Seattle area, going to college at both WSU and UW earning a degree from each, one in Architecture and one in Interaction Design.
Outside of work, you’ll find her gardening with her husband and 2 kids — ages 13 and 9 years old. She's a big plant nerd, and earned her Master Gardener certification, while also attempting to turn her property into her family’s primary food source (although not there yet).

I have worked with companies like Holland America Line, Amazon, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. My own design company is Pineapple Tako. I am also a long-time tactile artist whose mediums include painting, printing, photography, ceramics, video, and assemblages. My current pet projects include an illustrative design of Madonna's song catalog. I have also been creating illustrations for t-shirts and other collateral.
I'm a designer currently working to improve accessibility for public services, using branding and identity, design thinking workshops and UX. My day job allows me to work in both technical and conceptual capacities as I try to streamline, distill, and design solutions for the needs of a given audience. By night, I have a small art and design studio where I use my background in UX, Culinary arts, and Product Design to dream up new experiences for other creative and creative-curious people. Despite always having a lot of projects on my plate, I always try to carve out time to offer design mentorship, which was one of the most important aspects of my own success in previous roles.

I got my start in design at Western Washington University by doing posters for the sketch comedy and improv teams I was on. Since graduating from WWU in 2019, I have been working as a graphic designer and illustrator for theaters, musicians, authors and podcasters. In my free time that I don't spend drawing, I like to go hiking, running, and climbing with my cattle dog Fig!
My interest in graphic design was sparked through music. As a musician first, I became obsessed with avant-garde and ambient music during high school. I noticed unique correlations between the packaging of many of my favorite albums and their musical contents. I enrolled in the graphic design department at ArtCenter College of Design in 2018. I became interested in creating immersive contexts for information through graphic design during my time at ArtCenter. I explored this interest through experiments in book design, generative design and identity design. I graduated ArtCenter with distinction in 2023 and began working at EQTY Lab as a graphic designer soon after.
